Welcome!

Hello! My name is Kimberly...welcome to my site! I have never done anything like this before so please bear with me. I decided to create a spot for women to go to exchange ideas, thoughts, websites, information and other things that relate to women and guns. First, I'll give you a little background information on me. I live in Texas and have a wonderful husband and 2 beautiful, crazy kids (which I'm sure you'll hearing about too!)  Being a wife and a mother and working full time, I decided I needed to find a hobby to get out and have a little "me time". Ok, I like to craft or go shopping, but trying to do that with 2 kids under the age of 4 is not really my idea of "peaceful me time." I was looking for something that would get me out of the house 1 night a week and maybe meet some new people. I started looking online and broadened my horizons to see what all was out there. I found a women's shooting league. The more I looked into it, the more excited (and nervous) I got. I went one night to see what it was all about and that's all it took. It has now been about 6 months and it is so nice to get out of the house and go be with my new friends. But what's even more important than that is, I have learned something invaluable...I have learned to protect myself and my family.

Before I joined our league, I was not comfortable around guns. My husband is an avid hunter and will catch or shoot just about anything that moves. Needless to say, we have guns in our home (locked in the safe.) The mindset I was in was "Oh, if something ever happens, I can figure it out." Now, I realize how wrong I was. If you are ever in a bad situation, that's not exactly the time to "figure it out." More than likely if you are in a situation in which you need to defend yourself or your family, the person coming at you is not going to give you a few minutes while you get yourself prepared. Even the most highly qualified and trained individuals are probably going to have a faster heart beat and maybe even some sweaty palms. Me? I would have all the above plus some wet drawers if I'm being honest! I hope and pray that myself or my family is never faced with a dangerous situation, but I would rather be prepared than try to "figure it out" if that ever happens.

In this gun league, I have become more comfortable using a gun and how to do so in a safe way. The women I have met are crazy and funny and some of the most caring people you will ever find - even though most would never admit it! There is one other thing I have learned. Shooting is a male dominated activity or sport. Shocker, I know. But there are beginning to be more and more women becoming active shooters. In our most recent league, we had 11 new ladies that had never shot a gun before and wanted to learn! Now they too are hooked!

Yes, we are women and we like to shoot. But, we also like bling and we like pretty things. Have you ever tried finding a range bag that's stylish and cute? Ok so let me help you out...there's pink, and there's pink and camo, and there is pink and black. I guarantee you someone said, "We need to make some bags for women and they (no offense but probably a man) said ok, lets do pink." Don't get me wrong, I love pink as much as the next girl, but I also like blue, purple, sometimes even yellow. And I like prints. I think there is a huge market out there in the shooting world for women's accessories and it's growing. You know how we love to accessorize!

And that's how I got the idea for this blog! I'm hoping that we can come together and post ideas, share concerns and provide correct information for ladies interesting in getting involved but don't know where to start.  I am fully aware that gun issues are a very hot topic right now. I am not here to debate the proposed legislation or get into heated arguments or discussions. I just want to post about pretty things...t-shirts, necklaces and bags...where you can find these things...neat targets...rules to follow at the range...etc. I was new (and still am) and appreciated all the help I got when starting out and I just hope to pay it forward to someone else!
